We have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Center Engineer to join our team based in the Data Centers in Secaucus, New Jersey.
About the Role
This role supports our Data Center and plays a key part in maintaining the efficiency and integrity of our infrastructure operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to MACs (Moves, Adds, and Changes), assisting with new infrastructure builds, and facilitating the installation of SAN and Market Data equipment within SER and CER rooms.
In addition, you will manage and update our Data Center Management Software, which serves as both our global asset tracking system and infrastructure design platform.
Schedule: Full-time, Tuesday to Saturday.
Travel Requirements: This role requires both national and international travel, occasionally on short notice.
Responsibilities:
- Perform patching for server installations, migrations, and relocations
- Conduct SAN-attached network and distribution/core layer patching
- Manage requests and tasks in line with SLAs
- Design and implement infrastructure, including space planning and allocation
- Handle hardware break-fix tasks (e.g., hotswap chassis modules, XenPaks, SFP/QSFP, PSUs)
- Rack and stack servers and equipment into cabinets
- Follow and enforce change control procedures and contribute to change management processes
- Participate in possible on-call service coverage
- Oversee day-to-day operations and health checks of the Data Center environment, escalating issues as needed
- Receive, track, and manage stock and equipment for the Data Center and associated teams
- Execute copper and fiber network patching, including installations and break/fix
- Terminate copper cables and support infrastructure installations
- Understand and work within the critical nature of financial sector support
- Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Quickly assimilate technical details for project delivery under tight deadlines and in high-pressure environments
- Prioritize and manage workload effectively
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues that may impact project timelines, and provide resolution strategies
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience working in high-risk environments
- Extensive hands-on experience in Data Center operations, including structured cabling
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure technologies and networking concepts
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve problems proactively
- Experience with change management in controlled environments
- Familiarity with both copper and fiber network installations and maintenance
